Conservancy Annual Meeting

The Cass County Conservancy held its first Annual Meeting on January 18, 2005 at the Music City Texas Theater in Linden, Texas. Chartered by the State of Texas in June of 2003, the Conservancy presented an overview of its first operational year to the large contingent of supporters and members in attendence. As a non-profit advocate for historic preservation in Cass County, the Conservancy has partnered with the Texas Historical Commission, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Cass County Historical Commission and the Texas Forest Trail Region to promote the protection and preservation of historic resources within the county. Marketing, education, research and funding are major components of the programs conducted by the organization. Prior to the meeting, a specially commissined watercolor of the Cass County Courthouse was presented to Don Henley for his generous support of the Conservancy and the County Courthouse Restoration Project. The Board of Directors for the Conservancy includes Paula Aleman, George Fite, Kay Gregory, Ruth Halleck, L. M. Jester, Judy Lanier, Rebecca Narramore, Lynne Spivey and Kathleen Verschoyle.
